This class was offered as an after school activity for students at Quebec High School and as an evening program for the community at large. Students learned not only some basic traditional art techniques, such as calligraphy, suiboku-ga painting and origami, but also learned about the history and cultural relevance surrounding the techniques.

Class taught by Rieko Koresawa
Rieko Koresawa was born in Gumma, Japan. She graduated Nihon University college of Art. She learned drawing and Fine arts at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. She published a first picture book in Spain. She moved to Quebec City and did group-exhibition and a solo exhibition as well. She illustrated a book of Misuzu Kaneko’s poems entitled “Nous sommes tous different et nous sommes tous beaux” and was published by Quebec-Amerique in 2019.
She uses ink-wash painting technique with Japanese ink , mineral pigments, acrylic, gold leaf, mixed-media.
